Carmel stone is a beautiful, variegated cream-colored, sedimentary rock that is found all over the Monterey Peninsula. This type of stone is used just about everywhere in Carmel and Carmel Valley. Walk through Carmel today, and you will see it adorning the facades of many of Carmel's famous fairy-tale cottages and shops and paving the walkways of Carmel's many secret passageways and gardens. Carmel stone was even used to build the Carmel Mission over 200 years ago.
 

Growing up in Carmel Valley, we called it "chalk rock" and would use it to draw hopscotch squares on our driveways. When I think of all of the olfactory experiences I had as a child in Carmel Valley, the smell of this particular type of stone, held in my small hand, and warmed by the valley sun is a true memory of summer.
 

Our "Carmel Stone" is a truly unique fragrance. It is reminiscent of dry, dusty, mineral stone warmed by the sun, with a hint of bergamot for brightness, and the earthy warmth of cedar wood. This fragrance is modern, elegant, light, and atmospheric. It can be burned year-round and translates just as well in summer as in winter.
