The Monterey adobes were built by the earliest residents of Monterey. Originally made of mud, clay, and seashells, these structures served as private homes, theaters, whaling stations, hotels, bars and private homes as early as the mid-1800's. There are 22 adobes in Monterey, all of which have a very rich and fascinating history.

When touring the adobes, you can almost feel the history within their walls. One of the things I find fascinating about the adobes is the way they smell. The smell is old, and oddly, commands a sort of reverence. The earthen adobe bricks, the smell of the antique waxed wood floors, and faint incense from long ago can bring you back to that primitive time. I add a bit of orange rind to bring life to the historic buildings. I hope you might try this fragrance, it is unique and different for the Fall months.

Comes in a clay colored vessel that casts a lovely glow when lit.
